Tips for when you're Sick!

Hey guys, and welcome to another blog post! I know last week's blogpost only went up yesterday, but I haven't posted in two or so weeks, so I thought why not catch up now? If you're following me on Instagram ( @sweetashoneyblog ) you will know that I have been a little bit sick. Nothing too major, just a cold, but it's still a nuisance as I feel like total poop!

So as I was scrolling through Pinterest, which I had been doing for the past hour, I suddenly though "Why not do a blogpost about what to do if you're sick?!" So that's exactly what I'm doing now. I hope you enjoy this post, and next time you're sick you'll know what to do!

1. An Electronic Device

One of the worst things about being sick is you can't do anything and you get bored very quickly. However, if you have a laptop, ipod, mobile phone etc. they are a great source of entertainment! I highly recommend YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter. Nothing is as good as snuggling up in bed to watch Zoella's latest video or Alfie's latest vlog <3 Watching old videos is a laugh as well! Also with a laptop or phone, you could write future blog posts to save time or in case you run out of time. But if you have a headache or want to have a sleep, turn off all your devices and have a nap.

2. An Activity Book

A whole day on the internet might sound appealing, but it actually gets very boring once you experience it. This form of entertainment is really good, because it quite often gets your creative juices flowing and stimulates the brain. Other great books like this are 'Wreck this Journal' and of course 'Pointless Book.'

3. Settling Down with a Good Book

I don't know about you guys, but I'm a huge book-worm. I love reading and it relaxes me heaps! If you're sick and want to go to sleep but you're mind just won't shut down, read a book all cosy in your bed and I'm sure you'll eventually nod off. If you don't like reading, still read as you might find it strangely enjoyable or so boring you just fall asleep anyways! Three of my recommendations are The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska by John Green and Girl Online by Zoe Sugg.

4. Stay Warm!

You're not going to get over a cold if you're cold! Make sure you are nice and warm wearing your favourite fluffy socks, nice and soft beanie(s) and gloves, plus blankets and maybe even putting an electric blanket on.
Socks- ??? // Beanies- Glassons // Gloves- Kathmandu

5. Sick Essentials!

Grouped in this picture are all things you need when you're sick. Tissues are obviously for your nose. My recommendation for them are Sorbent's Eucalyptus with Peppermint, Camphor and Aloe Vera. The tissues are so soft, and the scent is AMAZING at clearing your sinuses so you can breathe through your nose and release any pressure. The Otrivin does the same kind of thing as the scent of the tissues, clearing your sinuses so you can breathe and taste better except it's much stronger and quicker and lasts longer. I use this at night so I can have a peaceful sleep. Vaseline is to put around your nose as the skin eventually gets very irritated and red and this just soothes that right down and gets rid of the horrible rash. Deodorant and Moisturiser's are amazing at making you feel a little bit fresher, and when you're sick you need all the freshness you can get! And lastly is a drink bottle. Being sick means you get dehydrated quicker, even if you just sit there, so it is essential for you to drink more than usual when you're sick. Just keep sipping throughout the day and you feel much better! Drink heaps if you're having headaches as well!

Additional Tips-

++ Take a shower/bath! It is so relaxing and freshening to have a shower, and you will feel a whole lot better for it! Lush products are especially nice to use.

++ Open a window in your room. This might sound a bit strange, but letting fresh air in will help you sleep and not feel so stuffy and restricted.

++ Don't stay on social media all day! Give your brain/body some time to heal with a quick nap or a relaxing book. Your phone will be there when you wake up- Don't worry!!

I hope these tips are helpful, because they definitely help me! Also I'm going to play around with the idea of 'Mini Monday.' So there will be two posts a week. Every weekend there will be a bigger post (hauls, favourites, shoots, tags etc.) and on a Monday there will be something smaller (like a quick DIY, recipe, review etc.) The only exception will be today, as this is a very long post because I've been so inactive!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the very first (not-so) 'Mini Monday' and if you're feeling sick I hope you get better soon!

The Liebster Award!

Hey guys, and welcome back to another blog post! I'm so sorry that I didn't post last week, but I was super busy with an athletics competition and I honestly could not squeeze anything else into my weekend. But I'm posting this now, and there will be another post this weekend to get my posting schedule back on track.

So last week on Friday, I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Zoe from https://kindaoutofthisworld.wordpress.com/  (@kindaoutofthisworldblog on Instagram). Thank you so much for the nomination, I hope your blog is doing well! Below this I'm going to post the rules, answers and my own questions!

Rules

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.

2. Answer the questions given by the nominator.

3. Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers and tag them. (It's okay if they have more followers ;) )

4. Notify all the bloggers you nominate.

5. Create 11 new questions for your nominees to answer.

Answers to my Questions!

Q1: What inspired you to start blogging?
A: For a while I've wanted to start a blog, but I never told anyone because I was kinda embarrassed! I've always thought it looked fun and interesting, something different to try out so I finally decided to stop being a wuss and create a blog!

Q2: Favourite clothing item?
A: This is too tricky!!! I have so many amazing clothes that I love to pieces. But my absolute favourites would have to be my black and white polka-dotted skirt from Trendez and my black and white play-suit from somewhere online... (I can't remember sorry!)

Q3: Who is your biggest idol?
A: I have two people who I really look up to. The first one is Zoella. For about a year now I've been watching her YouTube channel, and honestly she is just so perfect! She's pretty, successful, relatable and bubbly, and is so strong considering the amount of hate she gets. My other role model is  Dr Chris Brown from Bondi Vet. This might seem a bit strange to some of you, but let me explain! He's a vet, got his own T.V show, books out, everything that I'd love to be. Vet, actor and author- What a life, ay?

Q4: Lollies or Chocolate?
A: Chocolate, definitely. Chocaholic right here!

Q5: What is your favourite brand?
A: This is another extremely tricky question, but I think I'm going to have to go with Vans, Dr Martens, Lush and Boohoo.

Q6: If you could promote one brand, who would you promote?
A: Nooooo! Too tricky! Hmm... I think Boohoo would be the brand I'd like to promote, because I love all of their clothing, shoes and jewelry.

Q7:  What do you like in a friend?
A: I like someone who's funny, nice and reliable!

Q8: Who is one person you want to meet?
A: I want to meet so many people! But I'd say Zoella is at the top of my list.

Q9: Favourite outfit?
A: If it's a play-suit, I love it! I currently only have three, but I would love to have more c:

Q10: Favourite subject at school?
A: I have two- P.E and English. I love P.E because we do fun activites and I like English because I enjoy writing and spelling and things like that.

Q11: Favourite food?
A: This took me a while to answer... but I think I'm going to go with French Toast. Absolutely delicious <3

Now my questions for my nominees to answer!

1. Where is your dream travel destination?
2. Who would you take with you?
3. Favourite Lush product?
4. Favourite YouTuber?
5. Who would you like to promote?
6. Who are your idols?
7. Who are you favourite bloggers?
8. What inspired you to start blogging?
9. Where do you see your blog in a few years time?
10. What's your favourite quote?
11. What's your dream job?

If you'd like to see who I've nominated, check my instagram @sweetashoneyblog and I hope you've enjoyed this post! Any questions regarding this award, feel free to DM me on Instagram.

Happy blogging, Sarah x

My Trip to the U.K

Milo, my cousins little dog ft. my sister's ear...

Hi guys, and welcome back to my blog! I'm being a little bit naughty right now- I'm supposed to be writing an essay, not blogging, but all writing is good writing, right? This post is going to be about my trip to the U.K last year in August. I hope you enjoy x

One of my favourite places we went was the caravan park by the beach. My grandparents own quite a big caravan, and it stays at a really nice place. It was quite windy and cold, but had some beautiful photography opportunities. Above this small blurb are two examples of the stunning beach.

Some more examples of the beautiful photography points. Ireland is filled with beautiful hills and beaches. It reminds me a lot of New Zealand actually!

Another thing Ireland had lots of were sayings in Gaelic. I'm not sure what these ones mean, but if I ever find out I'll be sure to post it! I especially like the one on the left, even though the inscription is a bit small!

The K Club was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! We went there for my sister's wedding and OMG was it amazing! The food, the grounds, the rooms, everything was perfect.

Paris was a dream come true! We only had enough time to visit the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland, but boy am I glad we did! I got a super cute bag and a mini Eiffel Tower from the shop, and two figurines from Disneyland, as well as some Minnie Mouse ears!

Oh. My. Goodness. Nothing beats French food. Or more specifically, DisneyLandEurope food. The picture on the left is of the world's most amazing crepe's. I had never tasted a crepe before, so this just absolutely blew me away! I can't remember how many of these I ate- but it was a lot. The picture on the right is of the cutest little MICKEY MOUSE PIZZA! I got so excited when I saw this on the menu, and I couldn't possibly order anything else. All the food was super, duper good!

These are going to be the last two pictures for today. Disneyland was just amazing- everything from the food (obviously) to the rides was super fun and exciting, and I would definitely go back there anytime.

I hope you enjoyed this week's post, and didn't get too bored with all the photos and stuff! Just thought I'd mention, there is a lot that I didn't mention that I did, like go to London and Scotland, but I feel as if this blog post has been long enough already! If you have any questions just ask in the comments, or over on the Instagram account @sweetashoneyblog and I will get back to you asap!

Once again, I hope you enjoyed this post, and I'll see you guys again next week for another blog post!
Sarah x

PS. I'm now going to leave you with a cute picture of Olaf from the Disneyland parade!

Welcome to my Blog x

Hey everyone, and welcome to my blog, Sweet as Honey! I haven't really had a blog since I was seven... And even then I had a lot of help from parents and grandma so I don't think that counts? Anyways, what I'm trying to say is this is technically my first blog, so don't judge me too harshly in the beginning!

On this blog I am planning on posting around once a week, but really that will depend on what's going on in my crazy life and whether or not I've got time or not! But that's the goal anyway... The content of this blog is going to be a bit random, but I know I will definitely be posting about health, beauty, fashion and photography most times, but who knows what I'll decide to post about in the future?

So now you know a bit about what I'm going to be posting on here, I've decided to start this blog off with a ten facts about me! I hope you enjoy x

--

1. My name is Sarah, and I am a blogger who lives in New Zealand. I am thirteen at the moment, but I'm turning fourteen on the second of June.

2. I absolutely suck at hair. If you ask any of my friends about my hair skills, they will tell you I am worse than a two year old. It's really sad, but I can only do a simple pony-tail or a side plait/braid. That's it. Anything else you see done in my hair is probably done by my sister or my mum. The point in me telling you this? If you want a blog that shows you hair tutorials, this is not the blog for you!

3. Last year from mid-August to early September I went over to the U.K to visit all my family living over there (uncles, aunties, cousins and my grandparents on my dad's side as well as my grandad on my mum's side). We went to Ireland, Scotland, England and France. The highlights of the trip were seeing all my family again (last time I saw them was around nine years ago when I was four, so I don't really remember it...), my half-sister's wedding and visiting France for the first time! In Paris we visited the Eiffel Tower and went to DisneyLandEurope which was amazing! Too bad it's probably going to be another nine years before I go back!

4. I watch a LOT of Youtubers, (like seriously I watch about three hours of Youtube a day... probably more. You could say I have an addiction c;) but my favourites are Zoella, PointlessBlog, JoeSugg, SprinkleofGlitter, NiomiSmart and TanyaBurr. Honestly I would watch them all day if I could! The other type of videos I watch on Youtube is simmers. My favourites are xSimSugar, Lifesimmer, PiinkSim and SofeeSims -x

5. I am a complete and total mix of nerd, jock and girly-girl! I am a nerd because I don't hate school (*gasp*) and I love playing video games (Sims 3 is my favourite game EVER!) and also I am super duper shy around people I don't know... but then I absolutely love sports, health and fitness (I do netball and athletics at the moment, but I am going to be doing volleyball and aerobics this year as well. Also the health is more like skincare, healthy snacks etc.) yet I am a total girly-girl loving make-up, fashion and shoes!

6. I have been a dancer since the age of three (and that's only competitive...I was about two when I really started) and still do tap, ballet and jazz. It does help that my mum's a dance teacher, and did competitive dance all her childhood, but I'm still pretty proud to say I've been dancing on stage for eleven years!

7. My family that lives at my house consists of my mum, dad, two sisters and a dog. But my grandma lives down the road, which I will explain that fact's importance in the next...

8. I technically only have one pet, who is a a huge Bull Mastiff x German Shepherd x Labrador (we think) that we got from the pound four years ago. We got her when she was around one year old, so she was nearly fully-grown, but still as playful as a puppy. She is such a crazy dog who's very energetic, loving and friendly (but only when we are at home... otherwise she's a vicious guard dog!) but she absolutely hates water. My other kind of pet is a cat called Charlie, but he doesn't live with us, he lives with my grandma. I got him when I was three years old, but when we moved to Australia when I was eight we couldn't take him so he moved in with my grandma! We've moved back now, but he's so settled and happy we didn't want to disrupt him again. You will see a LOT of pictures of these two pets, as pet photography is one of my favourite hobbies!

9. A few of my favourites are- Girl Online (book), anything by Sam Smith, The Vamps and Bruno Mars (songs), Girlfriend and Creme (magazines), Dotti, Factorie and Glassons (shops), Vans and Doc Martens (shoes), Blended (movie) and The Vampire Diaries and Nashville (TV Shows).

10. The last fact about me! I have been to so many places around the world! These places are Australia, Rarotonga, Dubai, Ireland, Scotland, England and France! Even though I am so happy and grateful that I've experience so much travel, there's still two places I want to go to one day- America and Africa. I would love to go to America for all the amazing shops and beaches and to see the original Disneyland and I want to go to Africa to go on a safari and see the way of life there, as it really intrigues me. But who knows when I'll go there? Probably when I'm forty, haha!

--

So that's it for my first blog post! I hope you enjoyed and feel like you know me a bit more c: I'll (hopefully) see you next weekend when I write another blog post!
